“Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone-we find it with another” Thomas Merton
According to History.com, Valentines Day is an old tradition thought to have originated from a Roman Festival known as Lupercalia.
This was known as a “fertility festival” dedicated to Faunus, a Roman god of agriculture. Which during this festival, boys would draw names of girls from a box and they would be paired up during this time, which often led to marriage.
But this was outlawed at the end of the 5th century when Pope Gelasius declared February 14th as St. Valentines Day.
In our time and generation, we have made this holiday the “romantic” holiday for lovers.
We spoil our loved ones by gifts, chocolates, further for diamonds.
This is one of the holidays were a lot of men will propose to the ones they love.
Is there a right gift or a wrong gift for this day? I say yes.
Flowers, chocolates, and small gifts that mean something are always a great gift.
For example Coupons for “dishes for a day” from the husband/boyfriend is also a great gift.
Wrong gift ideas, is buying something for your significant other that they will never use, but you will, as well as it is a bad idea.
All in all….Valentines Day should be a day that you look at your loved one furthermore appreciate the fact they are there in your life, making you happy and complete.
